Software Release! SA 2010.04.07

New Combined Installer and Sentinel Hardware Lock Driver

In an effort to make installation simpler, a new installer has been implemented.  This installer combines the hardware lock driver, SA release, and latest documentation into one package so that all three can be installed easily.  (Note that you still have the option to deselect any of these three options if desired).

Important:  This release of SA requires that Sentinel Hardware Lock Driver 7.6.1 be installed in order to recognize the hardware lock (included in the installer).  This new driver increases compatibility with newer hardware systems.

Tutorials Added to Roadmap

Several tutorials have been added to Roadmap:

  • Working With Frames (Beginner)
  • Best Fit Points to Points (Intermediate)
  • Creating Relationships (Intermediate)
  • Minimizing Relationships (Intermediate)

Look for additional tutorials to be added in the future.

Measurement Plans: Start GD&T Inspection

You can now initiate GD&T Inspection routines via MPs with the Instrument Operations > Start GD&T Inspection command in Measurement Plans.

Improved Default Views for GD&T Inspection

An algorithm has been implemented to calculate default views for GD&T inspection routines.  You can start a GD&T inspection routine without first rehearsing it (as before), however now you'll have improved default views.

GD&T Annotation APEX Import

Initial support has been added for importing GD&T Annotations via Adobe APEX.

Single-Click Selection

All selection in the graphical view now only requires a single-click, as opposed to a double-click.  This significantly reduces the number of clicks required when working in SA.  For points, single-clicking an already-selected point will toggle its selection.  When outside a selection mode, it is still required to double-click points and vectors to view their properties.  Note that when selecting in the treeview, a double-click is still required.

Evaluate Uncertainty Field Along Vector Direction

Determine the uncertainty of points with uncertainty fields along a vector direction using Analysis > Coordinate Uncertainty > Evaluate Uncertainty Field Along Vector Direction.  Choose a point group (with uncertainties) and a vector group with the same name that defines the direction you're interested in, and a comma-delimited file (.CSV) will result.

Improved Text Rendering

Clarity of rendered text, such as that on point labels and callouts, has been vastly improved since the introduction of Windows 7 graphics compatibility.

Dynamic Reporting Improvements

Dynamic report views can be scaled in and out for ease of viewing.

Callouts are now compatible with dynamic reports.  Simply drag a callout view into a dynamic report, and scale and position it as desired.

Active Instrument Probe Graphics Enhancements

  • For probing instruments, the probe shank is now drawn as a cylinder protruding from the probe.

  • For trackers, a ring has been added around the translucent SMR, which points back to the instrument.

  • Probe brightness has been increased, and the color is now inherited from the active shot (configurable in the User Options).
  • Probe-tip now renders even if the instrument is hidden.  The probe tip can be hidden through the User Options > Display tab.

Relationships Computations

Computations for relationships are now saved with the SA file.  When a file with calculated relationships is opened, the computations do not need to be performed again.  This results in a drastic performance increase for jobs with complex relationships.

SA SDK Optimizations

Significant optimizations have been performed to the communication between clients and the SA SDK.  Many computations are now performed orders of magnitude faster than before.

Measurement Plans: Remote Homing

For laser trackers, you can now create, set, and delete remote home definitions via Measurement Plans.  These commands are issued via Instrument Operational Check commands.  For more details, refer to the Settings > Tracker > SA Interaction > MP Command String Listing dialog in the tracker interface.

UDP Speed Increase for 3D/6D Updates

When sending 3D or 6D updates, UDP packets are now transmitted at the full acquisition rate.

Laser Radar Tooling Ball Radius

The radii of tooling balls measured by the laser radar are now stored in the measurement details for the resulting points.

Auto-Correspond With Proximity Trigger

Bullseyes are now rendered on points that have not yet been measured.  When a point is measured, its bullseye disappears.
